Thank you for Not procrastinating!
Jul 02, 2025
My updated procrastination course has been tried and tested and it works beautifully!
So, first a lot of appreciation for all the people that tested my course in the new format in April and May. You gave me excellent feedback:
- The various links that needed rechecking, some spelling mistakes.
- The course is hard to complete without external accountability. It is not a quick fix course, more of a deep dive and coaching approach.
- You confirmed the approach works (I already knew this as I have run the course close to 20 times) if you can make it through the three modules.
This gave me a lot of food for thought. So, when I ran the course for real for 10 people from a large international organisation, the following five key things were different from the experience of the testers.
- We set a very precise time limit during one month, for when each module (there are three modules) had to be completed. Success was also clearly identified.
- We had three group coaching sessions of 1.5 hours each, placed strategically during the course: (a) to get everyone started and on the right track, (b) to make a great action plan and (c) to review the insights and think about what is next.
- We created learning buddies. We paired people up to help each other work on the modules together and to help each other get to a successful conclusion of the course.
- I added 4 x 15 minute coaching slots each week, for people to get help if stuck.
- I personally reminded people about the deadlines for the submittal of the action plans (you have to take the course to know why this is so important) and followed up on this twice. This really helped.
And the results were amazing! 8 people out of the group of 10 successfully completed the course, created action plans AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - started to implement those plans and saw results!!
One tool that seemed to really help, which interestingly was also available for the testers but perhaps less used, was doing the course on the application on their telephones.
So a big appreciation and thank you to those people who put so much effort into creating and implementing action plans to overcome their most difficult procrastination challenges.
This whole journey has been so motivating for me. I can see that the work I do does make a difference. And I can see that progress over perfection is definitely the best approach. The course is not perfect - there are still at least two big things I need to change (shorten module 1, redo many of the videos I made to be clearer, shorter and more professional and personal) but it works! And we will be updating the offer soon to have two courses before the end of the year with group coaching included.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the course in the last few months!
And in case you are wondering why I chose this particular picture of the WonderWoof to use in this post. I looked at his expression of relief, appreciation and enjoyment of standing in the cold water of the fountain, after a hot and long hike and that is roughly how I feel right now after the last few months getting this procrastination course up and running.
